Having spent the summer struggling to find tradesmen willing to quote for the refurbishment work upstairs (at a sensible price) we have decided to wait until our trusty woodsmith John becomes available in October. In the meantime we have had the real wood flooring laid and – WOW! – what a difference it makes. I keep thinking I’ve left the lights on overnight when I arrive in the morning, it’s so light up there.
We’ve also created a cosy(!) storeroom at the front part of the shop from bookshelves salvaged from Peak Books (they were being smashed up – I was horrified!).
Our plans for upstairs include a seating area where our lovely customers can meet up for a chat and a sit down and a read of back copies of our magazines. There will also be toys to entertain the little ones. We’d like to create the feeling that Organic Heaven is more than just a place where you come in, buy stuff, then leave again. Becky and I feel that we’ve helped create a little community of like-minded people.
We hope to be open by early November.
