The summer is proving to be a frustrating one so far. Since my last update, we seem to have had countless builders and joiners come along to quote for the refurbishment of the upstairs of the shop, only then to disappear without a trace! We are currently waiting for quotes from two builders and for another two to come and measure up with a view to giving quotes.
It’s like that old Monty Python sketch where the milkman is invited in by a scantily-clad lady, led upstairs to the bedroom, then suddenly locked in. On looking round he finds the room full of fellow milkmen, some in an advanced state of decay. Is there such a room in Chesterfield full of builders who have considered doing the refurbishment work for Organic Heaven??
The summer also saw us lose a large majority of our computer files. Thankfully most of the accounts were backed up but pretty much everything else, including the 1,200 record-strong database which I had been updating and improving for months, was lost. What I have been left with is a couple of thousand files with names such as Recovered document 1, Recovered document 2 etc!
So, it’s a long summer spent checking each and every file to see if it’s worth saving and to rebuild the database from scratch. This means that plans such as our biannual review have been put on hold. The priority is to get the database created again and, as soon as it is, we’ll replace the current one on this database with the new one.
