WHAT'S YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT?

Following the recent government pledge to reduce carbon emissions by 60% by 2050 I was interested to find out how much further I had to go to reach it. Imagine my pleasure when I discovered that I'm already there!

I happened to mention this a while back to a customer and, a few weeks laterI was contacted by Radio Sheffield and asked to appear (can you "appear" on radio?) as some kind of holy grail personified: "Look! We've found someone who has done it, and he's still breathing, clothed and warm-blooded!"

Spurred on by this, I have been asking customers at the shop to calculate their own footprints. Most have been well below the average of 13,000kg per person (this varies according to which questionnaire you complete) which shows that our customers really do 'walk the talk'! It also makes you wonder what kind of lifestyles many others lead to produce such a high overall average.

If you want to find out your footprint, pop into the shop and pick up a questionnaire. In return we'd like to know your final total!

EXPANSION PLANS UPDATE

Work has not yet started on the upstairs section of our shop, but the builder has promised to start on 11 April. This should mean that we are open by mid-May, coincidentally our second anniversary! We'll let you know as soon as his drill gets plugged in...

WEBSITE UPDATE

Sorry to our devoted readers (hello Brian) for the fact that we've not put any news up for ages. The website has been neglected somewhat in 2007 but we're determined to get it back on track. Over the next few weeks, with the help of our webmaster, we'll be making sure that there's lots to read about, including weekly updates on the Did You Know and Performance pages and regular updates on the News and Links pages.

We will also be updating the woefully out-of-date product listing with products category hyperlink thingies so that you don't have to scroll through all 800-odd product lines. The two leaflets (general and deli) will also be updated in the next month or so. Busy times!
